About ElMahya
ElMahya is a community led salary transparency platform for Egypt. We believe everyone deserves to know what fair compensation looks like in their field. Pay secrecy only benefits one side of the negotiation table.
Our independence promise
Salary transparency for everyone
ElMahya is a free, independent community platform created to help people in Egypt understand their worth at work. Its data, results and genuine reviews will always remain independent.
ElMahya is developed and supported by Mazid BI, with full independence for its data and methodology.
We never sell personal or identifiable salary information.
Employers and sponsors cannot influence salary statistics or fairness results.
Genuine reviews cannot be removed or suppressed in exchange for payment.
Any sponsorship or commercial relationship will always be clearly labelled.
How we keep the numbers honest
Anonymous data is only useful if it's trustworthy. Every submission goes through the same pipeline:
Anonymous by design
No accounts and no emails. We never store raw IP addresses or browser details. We only use salted hashes to block duplicate submissions.
Medians, not averages
Headline numbers are medians and P25 to P75 ranges, which one wild data point can't distort. Averages are shown only as secondary context.
Minimum sample size
Public role statistics need at least 5 valid submissions. A personalized fairness benchmark needs at least 10, because a recommendation requires a more stable sample. Recency weighting also lowers confidence when the matching evidence is old.
Older data fades, never disappears
Every valid salary remains in the dataset. For today's market figures, its influence halves every 12 months unless its owner updates it. Historical submissions also remain visible through yearly trends.
Outlier screening
Statistical outliers (IQR method, compared within the same role and work setup) are excluded from displayed stats. They are kept separately for review.
Handles currencies
USD earners submit in USD, and hourly workers submit their real hourly rate and paid weekly hours. We preserve the original figures, normalize currency at submission time, and keep hourly benchmarks separate from monthly salaries.
Skills refine the match
Personal benchmarks start with role, seniority and work setup, then refine the cohort by overlapping skills when at least 10 comparable salaries exist. Every result shows its confidence, and we do not claim a skill effect when the data is too thin.
Transparency is a team sport
Every anonymous salary makes the picture sharper for everyone else.
